About Nanny Share

Welcome to Nanny Share DMV! We’re new parents living in Washington, DC that loved the idea of doing a nanny share for our infant son.

When our son was born, the two most common childcare options were pretty clear-cut. Daycare, which seemed like a nice option for socialization. And hiring a nanny, which would be great for providing our son with more individualized attention… We wanted the best of both worlds, with a nanny share. Unfortunately, we quickly learned that this was the most difficult arrangement to plan for.

We chatted with other parents in our social circles and learned that a nanny share was many parents’ preferred choice. But people weren’t trying, or had given up on this type of arrangement because it was simply too challenging to figure out, especially for those who were sleep deprived with a newborn. We thought about giving up on the idea ourselves.

Once we started sleeping again, we decided to set up this website to help ourselves, our friends, and neighbors to find a nanny share buddy. We tailored the site to answer the questions that were most important to families we talked to in the DMV. Our goal was simple— to make it easier to find a family that’s the right fit for a nanny share.

But this is just a starting point. Please help us improve this tool for your family, other parents and soon-to-be parents—we welcome any and all feedback!
